Weekly Round up: 03 Nov 2015

Hi All,

This week saw a plethora of PB's at parkrun. Firstly at Durham where Fiona Wood, Debbie Jones, Claire Miller, John Moran, Laura Gibson and Pauline Elliot all had great runs in the lovely Autumn weather. At Hartlepool Simon Gardiner smashed his PB and ran an amazing time of 17.07 giving him 1st position, being the true gent that he is he even ran back to keep a few of the strider ladies company while they finished the run. Stuart McConnell also ran a great run at Hartlepool with a PB time of 19.17.

I can't not mention the lovely stridettes at the Junior parkrun at Sedgefield this week. There were an amazing 138 runners in the first week of the Junior parkrun. Tremendous effort from Alison Kirkham and the other helpers that made this happen not to mention all the future athletes that will soon be racing past us all! I've got a feeling that my Sunday mornings are now booked up.

The town moor in Newcastle saw the first Half Marathon running alongside the full Marathon, 2.5 laps and 5 laps respectively. Louise Morton was our only runner in the half, with a time of 2.01. Anna Seeley and Maggie Thompson ran the gruelling 5 lap circuit, with the much needed support of some striders helping out at one of the water stations, well done to all of you.

The annual Guy Fawkes 10 race saw Penny Browell, Elaine Bisson, Jon Ayres, John Hutchinson and Debbie McFarland tackle the hills of Yorkshire, by all accounts a bit of a hot day. Well done to Penny who was the first strider home, the photos of Jon on the FB page sums up the hill at the end. Debbie was very disappointed with the lack of chocolate bars in her goodie bag, 10 less than last year I believe!

Further afield in the Derwent Water 10 mile race 4 striders ran around this beautiful course. Jean Bradley, Christine Farmston, Rebecca Fisher and Richard Hall all had great runs, with Jean picking up first in her age category, well done Jean.

Lastly, but my no means least Helen Allan was the sole strider in the Sunderlands people's run to remember 5k, after a week of being poorly, well done Helen.

I hope I haven't missed anyone, please keep Jon or I posted on your racing ventures as you all deserve a mention in our weekly round-up.

See you all for Wednesday's club run, a good chance to run, chat and meet other members.
