Captains Notes: 10 Nov 2015

So another busy weekend of running with Purple vests on view from Newcastle to the East of God's own county. With no R.U.B.B.I.S.H to report at all!

The Mo Run at Newcastle on Sunday saw the chance to stretch legs out over 5 and 10 k with Elaine and Neil Jennings taking part were-Anna Basu (first 10k and the end of a sheltered life) Jill Young, Mike Parker, Lisa Hall, Kathryn Bartlett (who P'bd on what was apparently a wet and windy course) Shelagh Barton, Jo Parkinson, Beverley Walker, Alison Simms, Alison Kirkham (3 mins off her 10k PB here), Kaye Cairns, Alison Heslop, Aileen Scott, Katie Eilles, Claire Miller , Jennifer Rolls and Samantha Crampton.

Elsewhere in Newcastle the Town Moor 10k was the venue for Stephen Jackson who continues to hum do re me so far so good and smashing PB's with a sub 35 10k, Matthew Archer continued his fine form with a 30 something run (39 mins and a bit to be precise). Alongside these chaps the Sygroves, Dave's (Gibson and Spence), Adam Bent, Ian Spencer, Catherine Smith (knocking 2 mins off her best) Jayne Freeman, Helen Hedley, Karen Hooper and Joanne Porter all joined in the fun.

Another crowd of vests lived the impossible dream( not sure on the collective noun for runners perhaps a lycra?) and could be spotted enjoying the views seen in Harry Potter films and Heartbeat around the Goathland Marathon with Tasmin Imber leading the way home ,Mandy Dawson, Debs Goddard ,Dianne Watson, Sue Jennings (who now has 37 marathons to her name!) and Juliet Percival also took part over the 28 miles as did lone striders Male Dave Robson. Opting for a quicker route to the bar and only doing the half Camilla Laureen-Maatta got the drinks in whilst Joan Hanson, Anitta Clemeson and Jan Young followed her to the bar .Jan no doubt having a sly half of Perrier Jouet to celebrate winning her age category.

Aaron Gourley shunned the crowds and showed anytime, anyplace anywhere, he's up for a trot out covering 36 miles doing the Sunderland Strollers Urban Trail Ultra in a shade over 7 ½ hours in a long distance splodge.

A special mention too for Sally Hughes who turned out to represent Loughborough Students in Division 1 of the Birmingham and District X/C league.

Sedgefield saw the Striders of tomorrow getting in a nifty 2k alongside parents ( no doubt grinning at the fact that this exercise keeps all fit and the Jr members will be have no chance of staying awake until after the watershed)

Please also bear in mind the note sent Monday eve' by Le Grand Fromage DR. Evans about the Duke Of Wellington.

This Wednesday promises to be a cracker Kate Talbot has according to all who've seen it composed a veritable plethora of courses allowing all to take in the lumiere sites before the GNR like starting shuffle commences on Thursday.I've no doubt that a huge amount of graft has gone into this and donning my official hat offer thanks on behalf of all Striders.

See you all Wednesday at 7

Jon P.S. Anyone got the theme yet?(Neil Jennings will no doubt provide answers for the price of a pint)
