Exhibition Park, Town Moor, Newcastle

The organisers, Elswick Harriers, say "The race H/Q is the cafeteria in the Exhibition Park. Whilst there will be space for a few club tents there will be NO public parking in the park. Parking will be as and where in the city".

The venue

There is a car park on Claremont Avenue, to the south of Exhibition Park. You can get across the A167 dual-carriageway using an underpass, which brings you close to the race HQ, which is in the cafeteria - this is close to the "Exhibition Park" wording on the map link, below:

If, as seems quite possible, this car park gets full - it is a Saturday, folks - then we're all going to have to play it by ear in terms of finding somewhere to park.

Geoff adds: "You can park on the main roads that skirt the Town Moor (i.e. Claremont Road itself) and parking in Jesmond could be an option, which is just the other side of the Great North Road (there is another underpass into Exhibition Park from Jesmond)".

The course

On the 2010 fixture, the men ran two shorter laps, each of about 2.1 miles, reasonably flat, followed by a rather longer one of about 2.4 miles that included the two hills at the western side of the Moor. The ladies ran one shorter lap, and one longer one. The start and finish aren't far from the cafeteria.
